Webinar Training Tips

As part of its poverty law training calendar for 2010, the Minnesota Legal Services Coalition will sponsor online "webinars," some co-sponsored with the Volunteer Lawyers Network. Typically, the webinars last from one to one and a half hours in length. Webinars are an easy, convenient way to earn CLE credit while not having to leave your office. If you choose to register for a webinar, here are some tips to help streamline your experience:

  • Sign up for a webinar by visiting www.mnlegalservices.org. Click on "2010 Training Calendar" and then the webinar you want to attend. An informational page with a registration link will appear. To register, click on the registration box or link and fill out the form.
  • After filling out the webinar registration form, wait 10 seconds to get to the online payment feature. After you complete the payment form, a payment confirmation will appear.
  • You will receive a confirmation directly from gotowebinar@citrixonline.com after both of these steps are completed. This confirmation will contain a link and other instructions you will need to attend the webinar. If you do not receive this confirmation e-mail, your registration has not gone through.
  • If you choose to view the webinar with other attendees on one computer, remember you must still join the webinar initially using the unique link provided in your confirmation e-mail. This is important if you plan to claim CLE credit for the webinar.

If you are reporting now, please note: With the new online reporting, you can report a CLE once an event code is assigned (even before the credit is approved) and your records will automatically update once the credit approval goes through. You may find event codes by searching the approved courses on the Minnesota Board of Continuing Legal Education here.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE FILING DEADLINE FOR REPORTING YOUR CLEs:

The filing deadline for Category 1 attorneys reporting CLE compliance in 2009 is August 30, 2009. Board Rule 9B provides for a 60-day filing period. You do not need to request an extension during this filing period. The Rules do not require that you report your compliance by June 30, 2009 (the last day of the reporting period.) In addition, if you have not met your CLE requirements by June 30, 2009, you may complete them between July 1, 2009 and August 30, 2009 without requesting a formal extension from the Board. You must enter your courses through OASIS or submit your Affidavit of CLE Compliance by August 30, 2009, or you will be subject to a $50 late filing fee.
